What is the point of living a mundane life that is centered around just living?
I am not sure, I don't like living such a life, and don't think it's healthy too.
Therefore, I try to do stuff that's out of the ordinary whenever possible.
Below are some of the major milestones of my ongoing lifelong journey of learning!
From Jan 2023
I joined DSTA as part of the Technology Graduate Programme (TGP).
As part of the Digital Platforms Team, I am helping to enhance the capability of Singapore's Defence.
More details will be added in the future :)
Dec 2022
I participated in the workshop, with the aim of wanting to know about life as a data center engineer.
The workshop includes many hands-on activities, including setting up a 1U rackmount server, setting up Linux OS (for Server), and hooking the server to the corporate network.
I am given a chance to interact with the Googlers too, thus knowing more about their culture!
Side note: This is our first interaction with a physical rackmount server, yet my team emerged as second in the mini hackathon!
Jun 2022 - Dec 2022
I joined Infineon as part of the NTU Professional Internship.
Together with fellow teammates, we created an Android app, integrating NFC, Smart Card, System Security, and QR technologies. The aim is to develop demonstrative setups to showcase Infineon's proprietary technologies.
I also helped to implement and execute automated ISO/IEC-compliant standard test setups and to maintain the existing databases.
Apr 2022 - Jun 2022
Together with 4 friends, we formed to create Team CenterPoint for the hackathon, deriving from our strategy for the hackathon.
We initially created a slide deck to describe our pain points and our proposed solution, leveraging different Google Cloud technologies.
We were nominated to create the prototype of our web app as part of stage 2. This means that we are in the Top 20, out of the total 89 teams. Despite our busy schedules, we managed to submit our working prototype in time!
Fantastically, we got into the Top 5, thereby selected to give a live business pitch at Google APAC, as part of the final stage of the competition!
May 2021 - Jun 2021
Together with 3 friends, we formed to create Team LANE for the hackathon, deriving from the first letter of our names.
We acquired different Cyber Security knowledge through the online courses that DSTA provided and put our skills up for the challenge in the 48-hour Capture-The-Flag (CTF) competition.
Side note: Despite not winning anything, we were still glad we joined the hackathon as we gained some valuable experience!
Aug 2019 - Feb 2023
I graduated with Honours (Distinction) and a CGPA of 4.39/5.00, with Specialisation in Cybersecurity, Internet-of-Things, and Edge Computing.
Side note: Some projects done in the University are listed on this website!
Aug 2017 - Aug 2019
Like many other Singaporean males, I served the National Service (NS) as part of conscription.
Sep 2016 - Jun 2017
I joined ST Engineering Aerospace Services Co. (SASCO) as part of the NP 6-Month Internship Program and subsequently extended as temporary staff.
As part of the strict safety requirements, all parts of the aircraft must be maintained properly. Therefore, calibration of different equipment is necessary. During the internship, I learned about the different calibration tools used, and the different equipment used in the aircraft.
As both in-house and third-party calibration were deployed, I was also tasked to communicate with the other departments to send and receive the outsourced equipment.
Fortunately, I was given a chance to be attached to many Avionics Engineers to gain more exposure to the maintenance of different commercial wide-body aircraft.
Jun 2016 - Jul 2016
I worked as a part-timer during several roadshows, helping out in computer parts installation and troubleshooting.
Side note: This milestone is highlighted here as it allows me to understand some of the common parts of a computer, some of which were covered in detail during my study at NTU!
Feb 2015 - Mar 2015
I went for the 5-week Student Exchange Programme under supervision from Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
We were attached to some local undergraduates, from which we learned more details about their culture and practice.
We also discussed the issues for both countries, including the macroeconomic and social issues!
Apr 2014 - May 2017
I graduated as a Diploma with Merit holder, and was also one of the top students in 2nd year of study.
I enrolled as an Engineering with Business Management Program (EBM), afterwhich I chose to specialise in Aerospace Electronics (AE), also known as Avionics in the industry.
By covering both Engineering concepts and Business Management skills during my study, it supercharge me with the skills required!
Side note: It is sad to see that the programme ceased to exist and replaced with Common Engineering. :(
Position Holder: Apr 2012 - Jun 2013
I joined the Robotics Club in Jan 2010, after multiple rounds of interviews. This is the school's niche CCA, with only a handful of students selected every year.
We spent a lot of time in the CCA and entered several competitions annually, and designed the robot based on the specifications given. We also coded the vehicle to operate in both manual and autonomous modes.
I was given a chance to take up the leadership role and I took up the Vice President role for VEX Robotics arm.
Side note: This role helped to shape me to be who I am today, and I am thankful for the guidance given by my Teacher-In-Charge, Mr. Matthew Lim.
Jan 2010 - Dec 2013
I entered WRSS as part of the Express Stream. Entered the best class in upper secondary, and studied double pure science (physics & chemistry) plus other standard subjects.
I graduated in 2013 with A1 in E Math.
School's tagline: Through the gates of WRSS, Walk the BEST!
